Holy Eid- e-Miladunnabi to be observed in the country today commemorating the birth of Great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) 1,441 years ago on this day of the month of Rabiul Awal with divine blessings for the mankind. The Muslims across the country will join special prayers and stage colourful street marches to mark the day which is also the day of ‘ofat (departure)’ of the Prophet (PBUH), reports BSS Various religious, socio-political and cultural organizations have chalked out programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country marking the day.
The day is a public holiday.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private television channels as well as radio stations will air special programmes, while newspapers will publish supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages on the occasion greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world.
