The television channels will air special programmes on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. All the Bangla channels are offering a surfeit of entertainment ranging from special TV plays, tele-films, musical shows to magazine programmes. There’s likely to be something for everyone. A rundown of the Eid-special programmes on different channels:
BTV
Single episode play “Antaraley”
Special single episode play “Antaraley” will be aired on the second day at 6:45pm. The play is written and directed by Suman Anwar.
The play revolves around the visually impaired Parul. She spends her days sitting by the window and gossiping with a neighbour Salam, who proposes to her. However, Parul says she will only marry when she is able to see. Finally Parul gets back her eyesight, but through a tragic incident.
The cast of the play includes Joya Ahsan, Mir Sabbir, Jayanta Chattopadhyay and Shirin Alam.
Single episode play “Hajir Biriani”
Single episode TV play “Hajir Biriani” will be aired on the third day of Eid at 5:30pm. Written by Siddiqur Rahman, the play is directed by Taher Shipon.
The humorous play is set in a famous restaurant of Old Dhaka. ‘Haji Shaheb’ and his young son and nephew look after the restaurant, which is famous for its delicious biryani. Srabanti, Siddiqur Rahman and Nayan play the lead roles in the play.
ATN BANGLA
“Barisal vs. Noakhalir Shubho Bibaho”
Written and directed by Kamrul Ahsan and Mir Sabbir respectively, special single episode TV play “Barisal vs. Noakhalir Shubho Bibaho” will be aired on the first day of Eid-Ul-Azha at 7:45 pm. The play has been made based on the sequel story of the play “Barisal vs. Noakhali.”
Ataur Rahman, Dr. Enamul Haq, Tarin, Mir Sabbir, Sharmin Shila and others play lead roles in the play.
“Aay Phirey Tor Praner Barandaay”
Special single episode TV play “Aay Phirey Tor Praner Baranday”, written and directed by Hanif Sanket, will be aired on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha at 8:50 pm.
The story of the play encircles the differing viewpoints on modernisation among members of a family. The cast of the play includes A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman, Doly Jahur, Mir Sabbir, Tarin and others.
Solo Musical Performance “Shonali Shur” by Sabina Yasmin
Solo musical programme “Shonali Shur” will be aired on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha at 10:40 pm. Anchored and directed by Aupee Karim and Arif Khan respectively, the programme focuses on six songs of popular singer Sabina.
Tele-film “Ustaad Jee”
Special tele-film “Ustaad Jee” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 4:40 pm.
Written and directed by Brindabon Das and Salahuddin Lavlu respectively, the cast of the tele-film includes A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman, Chanchal Chowdhury, A.K.M. Hasan, Shamim Zaman, Swagota, Moutusi and others.
Ebong Banolata Sen
Special tele-film “Ebong Banolata Sen” will be aired on ATN Bangla on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha at 4:30 pm.
CHANNEL i
TV premiere of “Manpura”
The hugely successful feature film “Manpura” gets its TV premiere on Eid day. The film will be aired at 1:30pm on Channel i.
Directed by Giasuddin Selim, “Manpura” stars Chanchal Chowdhury and newcomer Farhana Mili as the lead actors.
Humayun Ahmed’s play “Badal Diner Gaan”
On the first day at 7:50pm, single episode play “Badal Diner Gaan” will be aired. Popular author Humayun Ahmed has penned the story, which is directed by Jewel Rana.
Salahuddin Lavlu’s play “Shasti”
Single episode play “Shasti” will be aired on the Eid day at 9:35pm. The play is written and directed by Salahuddin Lavlu.
The cast of the play includes Chanchal Chowdhury, Arefin Shubho, Prova and Hasan Imam.
Bipasha Hayat and Animesh Aich’s play “Nurunnahar’er Dyaita Jiban”
Written by popular actor Bipasha Hayat and directed by young Animesh Aich, single episode play “Nurunnahar’er Dyaita Jiban” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 9:35pm.
The cast of the play includes Bipasha Hayat, Azad Abul Kalam and Pijush Bandyopadhyay.
TV play “Lal Teep” on the third day
Single episode TV play “Lal Teep” will be aired on the third day at 10:30am. The play is both written and directed by Shahnewaz Kakoli. The cast of the play includes Bonya Mirza, Wahida Mallick Jolly and Rawnak Hasan.

Exclusive interview with Amitabh Bachchan
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, ntv will telecast an exclusive interview of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. Titled “An Exclusive Moment with Amitabh Bachchan”, the programme will air on Eid day at 9:20 pm.
“Behind the Scene”
A five-episode mini TV serial “Behind the Scene” will be aired throughout the five days of Eid-ul-Azha. The serial will be aired everyday at 9:50 pm.
Written and directed by Redwan Roni, the serial follows Babul and his friend who make a journey for Saint Martin’s island.
“Ekal Shekal”
Music show “Ekal Shekal” will be aired on Eid day at 6:15 pm. The show will feature artistes from both earlier and contemporary band music scenario of Bangladesh as guests.
Ferdous Wahid, Naquib Khan, Tipu and Suman are the featured musicians on the show.
“Shada Gari”
Single-episode play “Shada Gaari” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 8:05 pm. The play has been written by Humayun Ahmed and directed by Animesh Aich.
“Jhalmuri”
Variety show “Jhalmuri” will be aired on the third day of Eid at 9 pm. The programme has been produced by Alfred Khokon and hosted by filmmaker Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and Sharmin Lucky.
The show features celebrities in different roles. Actors Tisha, Mosharraf Karim, Tinni and Hillol and singers Fahmida Nabi, S.I. Tutul, Hridoy Khan and Mila are the guests on the programme.
EKUSHEY TV
“Dui Duguney Char”
Single episode TV play “Dui Duguney Char” will be aired on Ekushey TV on the first day of Eid at 9:30 pm.
Written and directed by Zinat Hakim and M. Shakhawat Hossain respectively, the cast of the play includes Azizul Hakim, Shahed Sharif Khan, Dipa Khandakar and Sumaiya Shimu.
The protagonist of the play, Shila, one morning, leaves her in-law’s home and comes to her father’s house. She makes numerous allegations against her in-laws to her parents, brother and sister. Her accusations infuriate her elder brother. The play takes an unexpected twist from this point on.
“Ekdin Bhalobasha Eshey Jadi”
Tele-film “Ekdin Bhalobasha Eshey Jadi” will be aired on the second day of Eid on Ekushey TV at 9:30 pm.
The tele-film revolves around a love triangle. After Imran leaves home for office, his wife Shudha bolts the door. Suddenly the call bell rings and Shudha thinks that it is her husband who has left something behind. However, it is not her husband; it’s Badal, Shudha’s old boyfriend.
Written and directed by Kazi Shahidul Islam and Ashraful Alam Ripon respectively, Tisha, Shajal and Shams Suman play lead roles in the tele-film.
BANGLAVISION
“Bhalo Theko Bhalo Rekho”
Single episode TV play “Bhalo Theko Bhalo Rekho”, will be aired on Eid day at 11:15 pm. Written by Rumman Rashid Khan, the play is directed by Chayanika Chowdhury.
The Plot: Russel decides to marry Rila, the girl of his parents’ choice. A few days before their marriage, Russel bumps into Srishti, his old sweetheart. After meeting Srishti, Rila notices a sudden change in Russel.
The play features Apurbo, Prova and Badhon in the lead roles.
Tele-film “Nayok Asheyni”
Tele-film “Nayak Asheni” will be telecast on Eid day at 2:30 pm.
The Plot: All is set for shooting to start at a wonderful location on Cox’s Bazar sea beach, but as the hero is missing, a desperate director decides to go ahead with the shoot with the production boy as the hero for his next play.
Written and directed by Mohan Khan, the programme features Shahed, Hassan Masud, Nadia and Litu Anam in the lead roles.
“Modhyo Raatey Teen Durbhaga Torun”
Single episode TV play “Modhyo Raatey Teen Durbhaga Torun” will be telecast on the second day of Eid at 11:15 pm. Written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, the play is directed by Mezbaur Rahman Shumon.
A threesome come up with an innovative approach for mugging positioning a street kid decoy who will run to passing vehicles, pretend to be hit and play dead. When the passengers rush out to help, the trio will move in and take their belongings. The plan seems to work perfectly, until one fateful night when they find the police on their trail.
The cast includes Abul Kalam Azad, Iresh Zaker and Joya Ahsan.
Tele-film “Khoj”
Tele-film “Khoj” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 2:30 pm. Written by Shahed Iqbal, the tele-film is directed by Badrul Anam Soud.
The tele-film revolves around a very common scenario — in our society when a girl is born, she is often looked down upon even by her parents, especially by fathers. Set against such a backdrop, the tele-film zeroes into a situation where a father decides to kill his young daughter.
The cast includes Subarna Mustafa, Jitu Ahsan and Raisul Islam Asad.
“Pitha-r Shongey Mitha Gaan”
Special programme “Pitha-r Shongey Mitha Gaan,” will be telecast at 6:05 pm on Eid day. Shot in the Nyaparpuchi village in Kurigram, the programme features Bhawaiya songs with traditional ‘pitha’.

“Definition DJs”
Special musical programme “Definition DJs” will be aired the night before Eid at 11:30.
Hosted by Azra and produced by Farhana Sharmin Shuchi, the show features Fuad, Mila, Fahmida Nabi and DJ Rahat.
“Laili-Majnu”
Based on the immortal tale of star-crossed lovers, “Layla and Majnun”, the Bangladeshi adaptation features Razzaq and Babita in the lead roles.
Directed by Ibne Mizan, the film follows two lovers who could never be together.
“Laili-Majnu” will be aired on Eid day at 11:30 am.
“Google.com”
“Google.com” zooms in on a mysterious man and his two accomplices. They are always on the look out for missing people. Everyday they go over newspapers and look for missing ads.
They try to find the missing and help them reunite with their family — cherishing the look of bliss on their faces.
Written and directed by Iftekhar Ahmed Fahmi, the play features Mosharraf Karim, Sumaiya Shimu, Arif and Abul Hayat in key roles.
“Google.com” will be aired on the second day of Eid at 9:30 pm.
“Common Gender”
Though they live among us, they are always treated as outsiders. Hijras who live on the fringe of the society, get the focus in the Eid-special play “Common Gender”. The play will be aired on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha at 3 pm.
Written and directed by Noman Robin, the play features Dolly Zahur, Chitralekha Guho, Shuhel Khan and others in central roles.
“Amakey Bhul Bujhben Na”
“Amakey Bhul Bujhben Na” follows a modest office employee. He is content with his family of four and loves theatre. One day during a show, he unintentionally sneezes on someone. Turns out, the man he sneezed on is his boss. The worried man apologises to his boss multiple times during the show. Unsatisfied and still anxious about his job, the man continues to apologise to his in charge at work. The boss seemingly takes it lightly and assures him that everything is fine. But the employee is still not convinced that all is fine, so he keeps apologising to the boss, eventually managing to annoy the latter. The irritated boss asks him not to come to work any more. The employee takes this to heart and this shock causes his death.
The play is an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Death of a Government Clerk” by Animesh Aich. Directed by Aich, the play features Mamunur Rashid and Shahiduzzaman Selim in lead roles.
The play will be aired on the sixth day of Eid at 9:30 pm.

The programme will feature popular songs of yesteryears.
The artistes include Ferdous Ara, Khairul Anam Shakil, Sadi Mohammad, Iffat Ara Dewan, Khurshid Alam and Juma Khandakar.

Kanagoli will be aired on the first day of Eid at 7.30 pm. Written by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and directed by Juboraj Khan. The play has Asaduzzaman Noor, Lucky Enam, Faruk Ahmed and others in the central roles.
Live Show: Call Er Gaan: Hridoy Khan
Special musical soiree of Desh TV’s Live Show: Call Er Gaan will be aired each day at 11:30 pm through a five-day special programme. Promising singer Hridoy Khan will perform on the first day. The programme is produced by Alamgir Hossain.

“Kakaru”
TV play “Kakaru” will be aired at 9:00 pm on Eid day. Written by Humayun Ahmed, the play is directed by Sajjad Hossain Shumon. The play features Zahid Hassan and Dr Ezaz, S M Mohsin, among others in lead roles.
The plot: Asraf decides to buy his daughter a crow on her birthday. However, he finds it difficult as pet shops in the city normally don’t sell crows. Fortunately the desperate Asraf manages to find one and brings it home. The story takes an unexpected turn when the crow begins to speak to Asraf.
“Ekti Showpiece-er Kahini”
Single episode TV play ‘Ekti Showpiece-er Kahini’ will be telecast at 9:00 pm on the third day of Eid. Written by Mazibur Rahman, the play is directed by Mahbubul Alam.
