A man was killed in an attack by a herd of wild elephants in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Md Bahadur Ali, 40, hailed from Dhanua Kamalpur village in Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur, reports a correspondent from Sherpur.
Abdur Rauf Pradhan, officer-in-charge of Jhenaigati Police Station, said at least eight elephants entered Ghazni at about 10:30pm.
The herd attacked Bahadur as he was sitting at a field after attending a programmed on a programme on Baul songs there.
The elephants nabbed him by their trunks and threw him on the earth, leaving him dead on the spot.
A General Diary (GD) has been lodged with Jhenaigati Police Station in this connection.
