Kalabagan Krira Chakra and Victoria Sporting Club on Wednesday accused Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis of favouritism as it gave Gazi Group certain advantage in the Dhaka Premier League.
Gazi Group will face Victoria today in their final match, where a win will give them a place in the Super League. Victoria on the other hand will move to the top of the table if they can come out winner.
The match was originally scheduled on Wednesday but CCDM deferred the match by a day citing unplayable ground condition in Fatullah.
Both Victoria and Kalabagan said it was done deliberately to help Gazi, a team belongs to CCDM president Gazi Golam Mortaza and member secretary Rakib Haider.
Victoria officials said Gazi took the advantage to bring Indian player Sachin Baby.
‘We will protest if Sachin Baby plays against us because he just arrived today,’ Victoria general secretary Nesar Uddin Kajol told reporters on Wednesday.
‘If we had the game on Wednesday he could not have played,’ he said.
CCDM official brushed off the allegation saying Gazi completed the registration of Baby on Tuesday by commission.
Meanwhile, Kalabagan in a letter to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan said CCDM changed the fixture to accommodate a team with some extra advantage as run-rate is expected to play a crucial role into deciding the qualifiers in the Super League.
‘It is not clear why one match of the league needed to be transferred as the last match of the league turned out to be crucial for teams,’ the club said in the letter, signed by KKC president Shafiqul Alam Firoz.
‘It seems CCDM had changed the game to help Gazi,’ citing their fear that the result of the game could be pre-decided.
‘We have learnt thorough media that Victoria Sporting Club had agreed to lose the game to Gazi,’ said the letter.
Things became more complicated as the match between Legends of Rupganj and Brothers Union also went on to the reserve day as it could not be played for wet field.
It came as a surprise as a match of womens’ cricket league was played beside the venue at BKSP.
Brothers need a point to avoid play-off of the relegation league and a loss could place them in hot water along with Kalabagan Cricket Academy and Cricket Coaching School.
Two bottom teams of the relegation league will be relegated from the league in next year.
