10-Sec Pulse
Enforcement deadline now Sept 15
The telecom regulator yesterday said it extended the deadline to enforce its 10-second pulse directive for all carriers to September 15.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said it extended the deadline by one month following appeals from the carriers.
The earlier deadline had expired on August 15. Once implemented, mobile phone users would be paying less for their calls.
Now, if a call lasts one minute and five seconds, the carriers charge for full two minutes.
With the new rules, if users talk for one minute and five seconds, they would pay for one minute and 10 seconds, not two minutes.
BTRC Chairman Zia Ahmed earlier said no mobile operators would be able to charge beyond the pulse system.
