Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad has urged the government and the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturer and Exporters’ Association (BGMEA) leaders to take steps to prevent further casualties in accidents like fire and building collapse in the country’s garment factories. He said, the garment workers through their hard labour are helping the country to earn foreign currencies, but the government and the people concerned are not showing sincere efforts with sympathy to ensure their security, the former President noted, while expressing his sympathy for the victims of the Rana Plaza collapse with several garment factories at Savar and the fire that gutted the Tazrin fashions at Ashulia recently.
Addressing a public meeting at Latifpur at Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur on Monday noon, the JP chief said, the people of the country do not like neither premier Sheikh Hasina nor opposition leader Khaleda Zia so they would chose the JP to form the government in the next parliamentary elections.
He said the country was heading towards an uncertainty as its indicated by its economic, education, development and law and order situation. “Khaleda Zia demands caretaker system of government but Hasina rejects. Thus this uncertainty arises,” Ershad said, while referring to the country’s socio- political situation.
He reiterated that JP would fight in the next election alone and regain the three lost constituencies in Rangpur.
He called upon the people of Mithapukur not to cast their vote for HN Ashiqur Rahman in the next election because he alleged that he helped Rajakar and Al-badar forces when he was head of Tangail administration. He appealed to the people to cast their votes for JP candidate.
