ETV reporter Rashed Ahmed and two crewmen of the private TV channel were injured in a road accident in Sirajganj as a bus hit their microbus following BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade yesterday.
Two other injured are cameraman Asaduzzaman Asad and microbus driver Rabiul Islam.
Immediately after the accident, they were taken to a local hospital and then shifted to Bogra Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors said they were ‘out of danger’.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred near Bhuiyangazi in Sirajganj around 1:00pm when the Dhaka-bound bus hit the ETV microbus carrying ETV special correspondent Rashed Ahmed and two others. The microbus was also damaged badly in the accident.
“Rashed received several injuries on his face and one bone of his cheek has been broken. After watching his CT scan report, we can say he is out of danger right now,” said Dr Firoz of the Bogra Hospital.
“Rashed has undergone a surgery and now he is staying at the post-operative unit. But there was no sign of brain haemorrhage,” said Ahsan Habib Rose, deputy director of the hospital.
The cameraman and driver are also out of danger, he added.
Khaleda Zia, who left the capital yesterday for election campaign in the northern districts, visited the injured ETV persons at the hospital and prayed for their early recovery.
