The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday urged the government to extend the deadline for submission of income tax returns by another one month till December 31. ‘The FBCCI, on behalf of the business community, is urging the government to extend the deadline for submission of income tax for the 3rd time till December 31 in a bid to fulfil the revenue earning target from income tax as well as to increase the tax-GDP ratio,’ said a news release of the country’s apex trade body.
Justifying their request, the FBCCI said that the new and old income taxpayers are facing difficulty in submitting their returns through online registration of TIN and e-TIN. The deadline for re-registration through e-TIN system is December 31, 2013.
‘Besides, the taxpayers have not been able to submit their returns despite their willingness due to the ongoing political programmes. For this, the FBCCI thinks that it would not be possible for the taxpayers by any means to submit their returns in due time unless the submission date is extended further,’ said the release.
The government had earlier extended the deadline of submission of income tax returns for the 2nd time by one month till December 1, 2013.
