Ticket prices of three inter-country trains on Bangladesh-India routes are going to be hiked from November 10.
The fares are going to increase due to high exchange rate of US dollar and rising travel tax, according to the Bangladesh Railway officials.
The trains are – Maitree Express on Dhaka-Kolkata, Bandhan Express on Khulna-Kolkata and Mitali Express on Dhaka-Siliguri routes.
A letter issued by the railway on Thursday, signed by Bangladesh Railway deputy director (interchange) Md Mihrabur Rashid Khan, showed that in Maitree Express the ticket price for an air-conditioned seat increased by Tk 105 from Tk 4,795 to Tk 4,900 and for an AC chair increased by Tk 70 from Tk 3,530 to Tk 3,600.
In Bandhan Express the ticket price for an AC seat increased by Tk 50 from Tk 2,900 to Tk 2,950 and for an AC chair increased by Tk 35 from Tk 2,265 to Tk 2,300.
Lastly, in Mitali Express, the ticket price for an AC berth increased by Tk 150 from Tk 6,570 to Tk 6,720, for an AC seat increased by Tk 115 from Tk 4,175 to Tk 4,290 and for an AC chair increased by Tk 75 from Tk 3,785 to Tk 3,860.
The new increased fares would come into effect from November 10, the letter added.
It also mentioned that the fares would be halved for the children aged maximum five-year.
