Country’s apex trade body FBCCI is likely to declare its future course of action plans protesting the ongoing political standoffs through holding a grand conference on Friday.
Talking to The Independent, FBCCI president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed said the FBCCI is organising a grand conference titled “Present Situation and Role of Businessmen” at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city on Friday. However, he declined to make any comments regarding their next course of action plans.
The Federation has called an emergency meeting of its board members on Thursday to discuss about the preparation of the grand conference.
Representatives from 330 business associations and 90 chambers are expected to turn up in the grand conference to express their opinion regarding countrywide frequent shut down (hartal) programmes.
“We, all the business leaders, will sit together to discuss our problems and look for way out,” a leader of the apex trade body told The Independent.
“We will not stand against any political parties. Rather, we want to share with them about our sufferings and business conditions so that the major political parties may avoid any programmes detrimental to our business and national economy,” the leader said. FBCCI has issued a letter to all chambers bodies and business associations inviting them to attend the conference and place specific proposals in this regard.
