A female madrassah student was allegedly strangled by miscreants in Sripur upazila of Gazipur.
The deceased was Munia Akhter, 12, Class V student of a local Dakhil Madrassah and daughter of Kuwait expatriate Miar Uddin of Shiriguri village in the upazila.
The police and local sources said Munia’s mother along with another daughter went to nearby Fulbaria Bazar to consult a physician for her daughter on Friday morning.
After returning home, Munia’s mother found her missing, which worried the family.
After hectic search, Munia was found hanging from a tree at woodlock garden, about 100 yards off her house early Saturday.
On information, the police recovered the body and sent it to General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Local people suspected that the criminals either raped her or made rape attempt and then strangled and hung the body from tree.
