A three-day film festival featuring discussion sessions and screening of films of the ‘golden age’ will begin tomorrow at the National Theatre Hall of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Bangladesh Film Archive and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will jointly organise the festival to celebrate 30 decades of the founding
of Bangladesh Film Archive.Noted poet and playwright Syed Shamsul Haque will inaugurate the festival, which will feature five films of the period considered as the golden age of Dhallywood films.
The inauguration ceremony, which will take place at 4:00pm, will be followed by screening of Surjasnan, directed by Salauddin and acted by Anwar Hossain.
Narayan Ghosh Mita’s Nil Akasher Niche, starring Razzak and Kabori, will be screened on the same day.
On Friday, Kazi Zahir’s Razzak and Shabana starrer film Abujh Mon will be screened at 4:00pm at the same hall. Pramadkar’s film Sujon Sokhi, which casts Kabori and Faruk, will also be screened on the same day.
Alamgir Kabir’s Dhire Bohe Meghna, which stars Babita and Mostafa, will be screened on the concluding day of the festival at 5:30pm.
A discussion session featuring the prospects of the filmdom of Bangladesh will take place on the closing day of the festival. Information minister Hasanul Haque Inu will be present at the programme as chief guest. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA, Morshedul Islam, noted director and also president of Bangladesh Film Archive Alumni Association, and Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, director general of Bangladesh Film Archive, will speak at the programme.
The festival will also feature an exhibition featuring the posters of films at the National Theatre Hall premises.
