The world football governing body FIFA compensated Tk 4,65, 000 to Bangladesh national football team defender Saad Uddin for the injury that he suffered during the national team’s training session in May 2022 in Dhaka before the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Qualifiers, said a Bangladesh Football Federation media release on Thursday.
FIFA has already deposited the money into Saad’s former club, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s bank account, from the fund of the FIFA Club Protection Scheme.
Due to the injury, Saad could not take part in the third and final round of the qualifiers held in Malaysia from June 8 to 14, 2022.
Saad, who is currently playing for Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings, suffered the injury during a practice session at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on May 23, 2022.
Saad’s injury also hampered his former club, Sk Russel, as they missed his service in that season’s domestic competitions.
And as a result, the club authority applied to FIFA through BFF for compensation.
Saad made his national team return on March 25, 2023, when Bangladesh played against Seychelles in an international friendly in Dhaka.
