Today, the original FIFA World Cup Trophy made by solid 18-caret gold is being expected to touch down Bangladesh when it arrive at the Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30pm from United Arab Emirates. A 21-member organising committee, led by the BFF president Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin and the chairman of the committee Salam Murshedi will receive the trophy at the airport.
The trophy then will be taken to the Bangabhaban where the president will receive the trophy officially and immediately from here it would be brought to the Prime Minister office, chairman of the organising committee Salam Murshedi informed.
Salam Murshedi also informed that there would be no change in the three days programme during the stay of FIFA World Cup in the capital, despite the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance called another 72 hours blockade from Tuesday morning to Friday morning (6am).
The Trophy would be brought at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Wednesday and will stay there up to 6pm for the consumers fan experiences and will again be taken to the hotel where it would be kept in safe custody. On December 19 the trophy will again brought to BNS and will opened for the fans before leaving the stadium at 4:30pm.
The trophy will leave Bangladesh on December 20 for Bhutan.
During the Trophy Tour, fans will be given the chance to enjoy a rare close-up view of the real FIFA World Cup Trophy.
Free tickets to watch the Trophy will be made available to consumers via Coca-Cola promotions.
Fans will have the opportunity to pose for a photograph with the glittering trophy. The BFF and the Coca Cola will jointly organise some entertaining programmes.
This is the third time the original cup, the world’s most coveted symbol of football is touring around the world while the Trophy Tour will cover 88 countries during its 267-day journey.
