A fire broke out at the Taj Casilna building in the capital’s Gulshan area on Monday night. The five-storey building houses offices of Qatar Airways, Bangkok Airways and some other corporate offices.
Seven units of the fire service were trying to put out the flames till 12:00am and the situation was almost under control, said fire service officials.The fire broke out around 9:45pm on the fourth floor of the building at 25, Gulshan Avenue, said Rafiqul Islam, assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
He also said that the entire fourth floor was burnt.
A fire fighter, Sohrab Hossain, was injured in the incident, the official said.
Shahrin Rahman, executive secretary to country director of Qatar Airways, said the entire fourth floor belongs to Qatar Airways.
The fire service assistant director said they suspected a short circuit could cause the fire from a server room of the Qatar Airways.
