A fire broke out at Siddirganj power station of the district on Monday night.
Shawkat Juddar, senior station master of Demra fire service, said the fire originated due to excessive load of electricity flow at oil hoarding place of sub-station of the power station at 6:45 pm.
On information, two firefighting units from the district headquarters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after half an hour of frantic efforts.
Electric equipment of the station worth about Tk0.5 crore were damaged in the blaze, added Shawkat.
