The Fire Service and Civil Defense have received two 68-meter Turntable Ladders, which can make it easier for them to conduct rescue operations and fight fires in buildings up to 24 stories high.
During a ceremony at the forces’ headquarters in Dhaka today, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan unveiled the power-operated extendable ladders mounted on fire engines.
These are now the tallest ladders in operation in the world, according to a news release from the Fire Service authorities.
The home Minister mentioned during the program that until 2009, there was only one old ladder-mounted truck that could not be used for work above 8 to 10 stories.
“We have brought 24 ladder vehicles to fight fire in high-rise buildings… Today, with the addition of the 68-metre-high ladders to the fire service fleet, their operational work capacity has been expanded up to 24 floors,” he said.
