A five-storey residential building tilted on Saturday at Paschim Sholashahar in the Chittagong city prompting the law enforcers to evacuate the dwellers.
According to the police and local sources, the Kohinur Mansion in Shyamoli residential area
under Panchlaish police station suddenly tilted about one foot at about 2:30pm.
Mohammed Nurun Nabi, a resident of the building, said he could perceive tilting of the building sitting inside his flat, adding that he came out and found the building leaned one to one-and-a-half feet over the adjacent ABC House.
Mohammad Shahidullah, additional deputy commissioner at the
Chittagong Metropolitan Police, said they evacuated the dwellers safely soon after receiving the message.
He said the agencies concerned had snapped the electricity and gas line of the building after the incident.
Sarwar Uddin Ahmed Manik, a city planner at the Chittagong Development Authority, said they had sealed the building off and will check the building plan.
