A day after foreign minister Dipu Moni calls Tarique Rahman a fugitive, BNP spokesperson Shamsu-zzaman Dudu took exception to her remark saying that the government should maintain political decorum while making remarks against a politician like Tarique Rahman. “Tarique Rahman was selected as senior vice-chairman of the party through its national council held on December 8 in 2009. He (Tarique) did not relinquish his party post, before leaving the country, but the government is spreading lies,” he claimed.
Dudu, also adviser to the party chief Khaleda Zia, was addressing a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in the capital, on Wednesday afternoon.
Foreign minister Dipu Moni, on Tuesday, said BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman is not a ‘political personality’, after giving an ‘undertaking’ that he would not engage in politics, before he left for London in 2008.
Responding to the FM’s statement, Dudu said the government should maintain political decorum, before making any remarks against Tarique Rahman. Terming the foreign minister as opportunist of 1/11 changeover, Dudu said: “The foreign minister has to be more responsible, before making such remarks against our party leader. Being the foreign minister, she should not make any indecorous statement, without knowing anything.”
