The footballers are passing anxious moments before the announcement of the final squad, which will be declared anytime soon by national team’s
Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif for the forthcoming SAFF Football Championship.
A 24-member squad, along with Denmark-based Jamal Bhuiyan and newly included young striker Aminur Rahman Sazib are now practising in the camp. The final squad will be trimmed by six members to a 20-member squad.
The Dutch coach reacted harshly with his players after an unimpressive display in the last practice match on Tuesday against BFF XI. The national team recorded a 2-1 win, courtesy of two penalty kick conversions.
The players also realised that they failed to impress the coach, who has been guiding them for the last one and a half month.
It was learnt that De Kruif will finalise his squad before today’s behind-the-doors practice match between the national team and a mixed XI organised by the Bangladesh Football Federation.
‘We are a little bit worried about the final selection and we are not yet sure over who will be selected in the final squad,’ said a national footballer on condition of anonymity on Friday.
Meanwhile, the BFF is planning to organise a warm-up match for the national team against the Malaysian Olympic team, which might be held on August 22.
‘Maybe he [De Kruif] wants to watch us [footballers] for one final time before leaving for Malaysia for the probable practice match against the Malaysian Olympic team on August 22,’ the national footballer added.
