Former Sri Lankan national team coach Graham Ford will guide Barisal Bulls in the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, said franchise officials on Tuesday.
The franchise unveiled their logo and theme song at a city hotel to announce their arrival in the BPL, domestic franchise-based Twenty20 cricket tournament, scheduled to begin on November 22.
Apart from Graham Ford’s appointment, Barisal also confirmed the services of West Indian star Chris Gayle and former Zimbabwe batsman Brendon Taylor, who currently represents English county club Nottinghamshire after his shock retirement form international cricket.
The franchise is owned by three persons — BCB women’s committee chairman Abdul Awal, Rizwan Bin Faruk and Nazimuddin.
‘We will have Graham Ford as our coach’, Rizwan told reporters on the occasion.
‘We will also get the services of Gayle [Chris] and Kevin Cooper of West Indies while they will be joined by former Zimbabwean star Brendon Taylor,’ he said.
The franchise has also confirmed the services of Trinidad and Tobago cricketer Chris Evans.
The occasion was graced by other franchise owners of BPL along with Bangladesh Cricket Board officials.
