Admission To 24 City Govt Schools
Form selling starts Dec 1, lottery Dec 14
The 24 government secondary schools in the Dhaka city will start selling admission forms for the academic year 2014 on December 1 and continue till December 9, officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, which controls admission, told New Age.
The lottery for selecting students for Class I will be held on December 14 and the admission tests of students seeking admission in Class II to VIII will be held on December 19, 20 and 21, pas per the decision made in a meeting held Monday morning.
The admission tests of group A schools will be held on December 19, those of group B on December 20 and group C schools on December 21.
Aspirants for admission in Class II and III are required to take a 50-mark written test while a 100-mark test for Class IV to VIII,’ said Sajal Kanti Das, director (secondary) of the DSHE.
Students are enrolled in Class IX on the basis the results of Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examination.
Sajal also said the admission to the newly established five government schools in the capital would be carried out by the admission committee headed by the respective head teacher of the schools.
‘As these school are not well-known or little known, the teachers will have to collect students from the locality and therefore there would no competition. So, the admission tests will not be required in these newly established schools,’ he added.
Like previous years, the price of admission form is Tk 100. The forms will be available in the respective schools from 9:00am to 4:00pm every office day.
The schools are divided into three groups — A, B and C — on the basis of their geographical location and the quality of education.
The Group A schools are Government Laboratory High School, Mirpur Government High School, Motijheel Government Girls’ High School, Khilgaon Government High School, Nawabpur Government High School, New Government Girls’ High School, Islamia Government High School and Mohammadpur Government High School.
The Group B schools are Motijheel Government Boys’ High School, Narinda Government High School, Government Muslim High School, Banglabazar Government Girls’ High School, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys’ School, Government Bigyan College adjacent High School, Tejgaon, Dhanmondi Government Girls’ High School and Dhanmondi Quamrunnessa Government Girls’ High School.
The Group C schools are Armanitola Government High School, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Girls’ High School, Dhaka Collegiate School, Ganabhaban Government High School, Tikatuli Qamrunnisa Government Girls’ School, Tejgaon Government Girls’ High School, Tejgaon Government High School and the Dhanmondi Government Boys’ High School.
