A Dhaka court on Sunday placed four garment owners of Rana Plaza building, on a four-day remand in a case filed in connection with the collapse of the building.
The accused garments factory owners are Anisur Rahman, Chairman of Ether Tex, Aminul Islam, Chairman of Phantom Apparels Limited and Phantom Tack Limited, Bazlus Samad Adnan, Chairman of New Wave Buttons and its Managing Director Mahmudur Rahman Taposh. The accused were earlier placed on remand for different terms in connection with two cases filed after the collapse of Rana Plaza in Savar, in the outskirt of the capital.
Samad, Aminul and Taposh were arrested on April 27 while Anisur Rahman on April 28.
Dhaka’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Toyubul Hassan Ujjal passed the remand order after hearing in presence of the accused.
On May 26, investigation officer (IO) of the case, CID Inspector Bijoy Krishna Kar sought a seven-day remand to interrogate the accused.
The ready-made garments units were located at different floors of Rana Plaza before the multi-storied commercial complex collapsed on April 24. A case was filed in connection with the death of 1,129 RMG workers in this incident.
