Yesterday, four people — two of whom were Dhaka University students — were given prison terms for taking the rajshahi University (RU) admission test on behalf of candidates.
Dr. Shamir Ray, a lecturer at the Gazi Medical College in Khulna, was given a one-year jail term.
Ekhlasur Rahman, a student at DU’s music department who was also sentenced to a year in prison, is a native of Joypurhat’s Panchbibi. He is a resident of Hazi Muhammad Mohsin Hall.

Due to her refusal to assist with the authorities after her detention, she was given a two-year sentence. Jannatul is from Burichang in Cumilla.
The other individual is Bayezid Khan, a former RU folklore department student.
Invigilators in several rooms nabbed them when it was discovered that they were taking the test on behalf of others, said Prof. Pradip Kumar Panday, administrator of RU’s public relations office.
A mobile court later imposed a prison sentence on them. It was day two of the entrance exams for RU.
