Four young musicians performed at the Baishakhi
celebrations in the Australian city Sydney last month.
Prakash Banik, Selina Aktar Chumki and Safiul Alam Raja presented songs and Sayeed Hasan Babu played flute at the celebrations programme organised by Bangabandhu Council of Australia on April 20 at the Olympic Park in the city.
Bangladeshi expatriates under the banner of the council has been celebrating the first day of Bangla New Year for the past 21 years in Sydney, said a press release.
The release claimed the event as the biggest such celebrations organised by the Bangladeshi expatriates across the globe in terms of the number of audience.
‘Each year around 20 thousands viewers enjoy the Pahela Baishakh celebrations programme in Sydney,’ reads the release.
Prakash Banik presented different genres of songs. Chumki rendered Lalon’s songs while Raja presented bhawaiya songs at the programme.
