Gold price has hit a record high of Tk 1,00,777 a bhari (11.664 grams) on the local market.
According to a Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity press release, the price of 22-carat gold was on Thursday raised by Tk 2,333 a bhari from Tk 98,444 a bhari in line with an increase in the price of the metal on the global market.
The new price will be effective on the local market on Friday.
The price of 21-carat gold was raised to Tk 96,228 a bhari from Tk 93,953 a bhari and that of 18-karat gold to Tk 82,464 a bhari from Tk 80,540 a bhari.
The price of traditional gold was increased to Tk 68,700 a bhari from Tk 67,126 a bhari, according to the release.
Earlier on June 7, the jewellers increased the price of gold by Tk 1,750 to Tk 98,444 a bhari from Tk 96,695.
