Chittagong, Barisal and Sylhet registered victories over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna in a low scoring opening round of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea National Cricket League one-dayers at different venues across the country on Thursday.
Chittagong v Dhaka At the BKSP, Chittagong opted to bowl first and bowled Dhaka out for 173 in 47.2 overs. Later Chittagong reached the target in 45.3 overs with five wickets to spare.
Javed Omar scored 20, Shamsur Rahman added 28, Marshal Ayub contributed 49 and Mahmudullah Riyadh chipped in with 30 for Dhaka.
Rezaul Karim scalped four Dhaka wickets for 25 runs. Tarek Aziz, Sajjadul Haque and Mohammad Yunus took two wickets each.
Skipper Nafees Iqbal took the anchor role playing an innings of 57 off 95 balls while Rezaul Karim added 49 to guide Chittagong to victory.
Barisal v Rajshahi
At the Fatullah Stadium, Rajshahi were all out for 144 in 39.1 overs but Barisal had to work hard to notch a two wicket victory scoring 146 for eight in 48.4 overs.
Skipper Anisur Rahman top-scored with 37 for Rajshahi with notable scores of 23 from Sabbir Rahman and 24 from Hamidul Islam. Rony Talukder took three wickets for 26 while Arafat Salahuddin and Monowar Hossain both grabbed two wickets each.
Barisal relied upon the bat of Rony Talukder who contributed 19, Nasiruddin Faruq’s 24, Nasir Hossain’s 26 and a precious 23 from number eight Abul Bashar. Sohrowardi Shuvo captured four wickets for 23 runs.
Khulna v Sylhet
Khulna opting to bat first at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium were bowled out for a paltry 125 and Sylhet had little difficulty to notch a nine-wicket victory scoring 128 in just 11.4 overs.
Sylhet opener, Saikat Ali
blasted a 51-run innings off 33 balls hitting six fours and two sixes while one down Mohammad Mithun also played a cracking 48-run innings off 35 balls hitting seven fours to present their team a superb victory.
Earlier, Khulna reached 125 with Najmus Sadat scoring 23, Amit Majumder adding 19 and number seven Fariduddin scoring 27. Nazmul Hossain and Taposh Ghosh both grabbed three wickets for 31 and 15 runs respectively.
