The government is planning to build technology parks in all the divisional headquarters with a view to expanding the technological infrastructure across the country.
The information and communication technology ministry on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the government-owned Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Company for the feasibility testing of the project.
‘We provide the young people across the country with different types of computer training, but as there is lack of infrastructure the training could be merely used,’ ICT secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said at the signing ceremony at the ministry.
He said the project tenure would be 14 months and the budget was Tk 2 crore.
When asked why the government was planning technology parks in the divisional headquarters as a project of building the first high-tech park at Kaliakair in Gazipur remained pending for more than nine years, Nazrul said, ‘There was some problems in the high-tech park project which is delaying the process. But we believe you always need to think for the future.’
He also said the government was still unsure about the completion date of the high-tech park project.
