Secondary school students across the country will be selected today via a centralized lottery system for admission to government-run schools.
According to the website of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), the digital lottery for the government-run secondary schools will take place at the International Mother Language Institute at 2:00pm.
The lottery for the non-government schools (metropolitan areas and district Sadar upazilas) will be at the same venue at 3:00pm tomorrow, as per the DSHE website.
Earlier, the DSHE set December 10 for central lottery for admission to all government schools, which was later deferred.
According to Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics, there are 18,874 secondary schools in the country. Of them, 621 are government-run. The online application process for admissions to all government and non-government secondary schools for the upcoming academic session started on November 16. The deadline for the submission of admission forms was December 6.
