Industries minister Dilip Barua on Saturday assured the fertiliser dealers of distributing BADC-imported fertilisers through BCIC dealers and reducing the income tax of the dealers to a rational level for smooth distribution of the essential agriculture input.
He gave the assurance while speaking at the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Bangladesh Fertiliser Association at the Officers’ Club in the city.
BFA chairman Kamrul Ashraf Khan presided over the meeting while state minister for industries Omar Faruque Chowdhury addressed the programme as a special guest.
Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation chairman SM Nazmul Islam and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation chairman M Monsur Ali Sikdar also spoke on the occasion.
Dilip Barua said the country is on the path of food-autarky mainly due to the government’s manifold steps, including timely distribution of fertilisers among the farmers.
Kamrul Ashraf put forward a set of recommendations for smooth management of fertiliser, including taking steps for allocation of fertilisers at the beginning of every month, keeping the option to submit money and taking fertiliser in two instalments during peak season as before, ensuring efficient management in appointment of dealers, distribution of adequate urea fertiliser to country’s southwestern areas and fixation of same prices at mill gate and warehouse.
