Barua tells New Age
The government is working on offloading shares of several state-owned companies to support the capital market, the industries minister, Dilip Barua, said on Saturday.
The work on offloading shares of the Chittagong-based state-owned company Pragati Industries Ltd is in final stages, he said in an exclusive interview with New Age.
Political leaders who believe in secular and democratic values and the communists need to play their due role for betterment of the people, said Dilip, who is also general secretary of the Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal, a partner of the ruling Awami League-led alliance.
Dilip, who was a student leader in the 1960s, said the relevance of student politics had changed as student leaders now hardly have any role in national politics.
Students and their leaders now need to develop them for economic betterment instead of remaining engaged in admission trade and working as cronies of corrupt people, he said in his house on Minto Road.
