Grameenphone launched a new digital music platform named ‘GP Music’ on Tuesday at hotel Westin with an objective to revolutionise Bangladeshi music industry. GP Music will host thousands of Bangla songs – a rich collection of both classic hits and exclusive new releases aiming to help music lovers and musicians to bring back the glory of the pre-piracy era, said a press release.
Leading artistes and band groups were present at the launch event to demonstrate their support towards this endeavor, saying that the music industry has been on a downtrend for quite a while at the death of the cassette/CD culture and widespread piracy.
It has become equally difficult for artists to get duly compensated for all their hard work, they said.
GP Music will encourage true music lovers to pay for original music as it will be very user-friendly, will be extremely light on their pockets and most importantly, will exclusively host new releases by the most popular and legendary musicians, according to the release.
GP customers can visit music.grameenphone.com to download their favorite track. Songs will be available at Tk. 5 per song download and Tk. 40 per album download. During the launch, Grameenphone announced the launch of a total of 15 Eid exclusive albums which will be available only from GP Music platform.
