For the first time, popular singer Habib Wahid’s latest album, titled ‘Ahoban,’ sponsored by Banglalink, had been released on website. It was announced at a function in the city recently. It is a unique procedure for this album release as it gives Banglalink subscribers the exclusive privilege of listening to the new album a month before its commercial release, while at the same time ensuring better security against piracy. The physical album will be launched by music label Deadline Music a month later. Singer Habib Wahid, Solaiman Alam, Head of PR and Communication of Banglalink and Tanveer Chowdhury, CEO of Deadline Music, were present at the launching ceremony. Banglalink has supported music-based entertainment for the youth of the country before in various occasions, including both modern band music and traditional music. Over the years Banglalink has been instrumental in promoting music through numerous activities, the sole purpose of which was to recognize and support the dynamic and diverse music culture of Bangladesh. Banglalink has in the past endorsed Warfaze, Aurthohin and Habib as brand ambassadors, with the understanding that music is the best medium to communicate and connect with the mass youth across the nation. In recent years the music industry has been plagued by piracy, absence of proper nationwide distribution networks, absence of transparency in the overall channel, and minimum promotional activities. Thus, Banglalink initiated this model to address all the above issues by creating a bridge between the artists and the industry through their services. Success of this initiative will add a new dimension to Banglalink’s services and also in the music industry. Habib Wahid in his speech said, “This album launch is our initiative to reach a mass audience of fans and give them what they want, and also to fight many issues plaguing Bangladesh’s music industry.”
