The government deferred the schedules of the half-yearly and pre-test examinations for a week for students of the government and non-government secondary schools across the country.
The decision was made to facilitate the implementation of the new national curriculum in the Classes of VI and VII, said a notice issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on Wednesday.
As per an earlier notice of the SHED, these examinations were scheduled to be held between June 1 and June 6 for the Classes of VI and X.
The new notice said that currently the schools which were being used as examinations centres for the Secondary School Certificate examinations would be off-limits for the classroom activities till May 31.
As per the new curriculum, for the half-yearly assessments of Classes of VI and VII, the students must be evaluated by different tasks, assignments, project-based and investigation-based works.
For these, five working days will be needed for preparatory classroom activities and 10 working days will be needed to evaluate these students on 10 subjects.
In these circumstances, the half-yearly and pre-test examinations for the students of Classes VI and X will be held between June 7 and June 22 and between May 31 and June 6 respectively.
