Hasin Rowshan Jahan, an honours student of the Department ofHistory of Dhaka University, has won the country’s first and only female modelhunt contest ‘Veet-Channel i Top Model 2011’ award.
She was declared as the top model after performing in thecolourful grand finale of the contest, which was held at a city hotel onTuesday night. Sanzida Islam Taha and Nomira Ahmed Rakhi successively securedthe second and third position among the top ten contestants.
Besides the top three, the other contestants who performedin the grand finale were Apsara Ali, Samia Jahan Moon, Syeda Anushey Ali,Nushrat jahan Mebin, Mehjabin Morshed Lamisa, Umme Habiba Eva and SanzidaTonmay.
Champion Hasin was awarded Tk five lakh while firstrunner-up Sanjida and second runner-up Rakhi was given Tk three and four lakhsrespectively.
Three judges of the model hunt, popular model Novel, actressTania Ahmed and beauty expert Kaniz Almas, Director of Impress Group Jahir UddinMahmud Mamun and Managing Director of Reckitt Benckiser Bangladesh Ltd RiazulHaque Chowdhury handed over the prizes among the winners.
Apsara Ali became the Miss Beauty Smile of the contest whileSamia Jahan Moon and Syeda Anushey Ali was declared sequentially as Miss BeautySkin and Miss Congeniality. Each of them were awarded Tk 50. Renowned singerSamina Chowdhury, actress Ishita and Mahbub Basher of Reckitt BenckiserBangladesh Ltd distributed the prize money among the winners.
While expressing her feelings, Hasin said, “I am reallygrateful to Veet and Channel i to make me stand in such a big platform. I amalso indebted to the audiences who inspired me a lot till the ending of thecontest. Being the top model, I will try my level best to represent Bangladesh inthe international arena,” she said after winning the award.
