Hasina spent lowest in Rangpur

Awami League (AL) chief Sheikh Hasina spent only about Tk 4.22 lakh for election expenditure in Rangpur-6 parliamentary constituency although she was entitled to spend Tk 11.84 lakh.
Election expenditure of Hasina, who won the ballots in the constituency, is the lowest among others who won in five other constituencies of Rangpur.
Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad, who still has huge popularity in his home district, spent Tk 9.50 lakh for contesting for the Rangpur-3 seat. Election expenditure of four-party alliance candidate and BNP leader Rahim Uddin Varosha in Rangpur-4 constituency was the highest at Tk 14 lakh. Next to him is JP candidate in Rangpur-5 constituency Fakhruz Zaman Jahangir. He spent Tk 13.40 lakh.
According to the candidates’ statements, AL candidate Ashiqur Rahman spent Tk 13 lakh, AL candidate in Rangpur-4 Tipu Munshi Tk 12 lakh, JP candidate in Rangpur-2 Anisul Islam Mondol Tk 9.60 lakh, four-party alliance candidate in Rangpur-6 Noor Mohammad Mondol Tk 5,16,944, four-party alliance candidate in Rangpur-2 ATM Azharul Islam Tk 8.50 lakh and JP candidate in Rangpur-1 Mokbul Shahariar Asif Tk 10 lakh.
Yesterday was the last date for submitting the election expenditure statements. Except a few candidates including JP’s Karim Uddin Varosha, all submitted their election expenditure statements to the office of the returning officer.
