Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday warned the main opposition leader and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia of stern actions if she does not stop killing and destroying public properties in the name of saving war criminals. Responding to a supplementary question of lawmaker M Shahiduzzaman Sarker, the PM, during her question-answer session, said, “She will not achieve what she (Khaleda) wanted through killing people. The trial of the war criminals will take place at any cost in the country.”
She also accused the opposition leader of tarnishing the image of the country by giving various kinds of destructive programmes to save the war criminals.
Hasina said, the government must take proper and legal actions against the act of killing innocent people and destroying public properties.
“Trial of the war criminals is the demand of the people,” she said adding, the opposition leader is desperately trying to save them.
In this connection, she recalled the attack on a peaceful procession of Awami League and killing of several people by goons of Jammat-Shibir. “They unleashed their barbaric attack. Even the policemen could not manage to escape from their attacks,” she said.
Hasina alleged that the opposition criminals are killing innocent drivers, rickshaw-pullers and people to stop the trial of the war criminals.
She also urged the people to come forward to help the government in this regard.
“It is the duty of the government to provide security to the people and we will do that at any cost,” she said.
