Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusinghe emphasised on hunting leg-spinners as he met with the selectors discussing several issues to take country’s cricket ahead at Mirpur on Saturday.
Chandika is expected to be a part of the national team selection panel and took part in the meeting trying to broaden his knowledge about some of the upcoming cricketers through taking a look at the High-performance squad.
National selector Faruk Ahmed along with Minhajul Abedin and Habibul Bashar helped him to adjust into his new role through providing inputs regarding some of the HP squad members.
But scarcity of leg-spinners did not miss the eyes of Hathurusinghe, who has a liking on players knowing this trade.
Young leg-spinner Jubair Hossain is known to be one of his all-time favourite but rather than being satisfied with his find he mentioned to increase the list through hunting them from grass-root level.
‘It is true we don’t have quality leg-spinners and we must make an attempt to find some new talents as quality leg-spinners are regarded as match winners,’ said one selector.
Chief selector Faruk Ahmed said that the informal meeting had given them a fair bit of idea regarding coach’s plan of action and how he wants to achieve it in the coming days.
‘We spoke about different issues and policies we adopt and he had given some inputs here and there,’ Faruk told reporters.
Faruk informed that he will leave for United States of America on June 8 and expected to return after Eid-ul-Fitr with his family as he had some earlier arrangements of a tour.
