30th BCS Preliminary Test
HC asks PSC to give full marks for wrong questions
The High Court yesterday directed the Public Service Commission to publish the results of 30th Bangladesh Civil Service preliminary test and award candidates full marks for 11 wrong questions on the disputed set-2 question paper.
There were three sets of question papers in the July 30 exam, and of them, the set-2 contained a number of errors and inconsistencies putting the examinees into confusion.
The two other sets of the test will however be evaluated on 100 questions, since there was no anomaly in those question papers, Manzill Murshid, the lawyer for the writ petitioners, told The Daily Star.
An HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain came up with the order after disposing of the writ petition jointly filed by 19 candidates of the 30th BCS examinations, seeking cancellation of the preliminary test for anomalies in some queries of question paper-2.
The HC bench yesterday also directed three officials of Bangladesh Government (BG) Press and PSC to appear before it on October 7 to explain why they recommended pardoning the BG Press personnel responsible for anomalies in the question paper.
The three officials are — Assistant directors of BG press Alamgir Hossain and Mojibur Rahman and PSC director Vivekanda Bishwas.
They submitted an inquiry report to PSC on September 14, saying Compositor of BG Press Rezaul Karim and its Reviser Rafiqul Islam were responsible for anomalies in the BCS question paper, but they should be pardoned of their mistakes.
During the hearing, M Asadullah, lawyer for the PSC, told the court the commission has decided to give 11 marks to all the candidates of 30th BCS examination considering the trouble for errors in the question paper.
He said PSC would implement the decision if the court permits.
