The High Court yesterday granted conditional bail to Mohammad Rassel, founder and CEO of e-commerce platform Evaly, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
According to the conditions, Rassel cannot leave the country, he has to surrender his passport to the authorities concerned, he cannot tamper evidence, he must assist the officers during the investigation into the case, and he cannot circulate any advertisement for his company, Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi said.
The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam passed the order following an appeal filed by Rassel seeking bail.
Rassel’s lawyer Ahsanul Karim told this correspondent that his client cannot get released from jail following the HC order as he is arrested in other cases.
