The HC on Wednesday disposed of a writ petition filed for taking legal action against Hefajat-e-Islam Ameer Shah Ahmed Shafi on charge of burning holy Quran during the violence of May 5 at Paltan; with some observations. The HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafor Ahmed disposed of the petition after hearing on the petition. On the other hand, the HC bench of Justice Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Md Khurshid Alam Sarker is likely to hear a petition on Thursday which was filed seeking court’s direction asking the government to form a judicial commission headed by a retired chief justice to inquire into the midnight crack down on Hefajat-e-Islam on the night of May 5-6 at Shapla Chattar in the capital.
