Field workers’ association of the health department on Thursday formed a human chain and rally in Barisal to press home their five-point demand and threatened to boycott EPI.
Their five-point demand includes giving technical status to health assistants, end of discriminations in salary scale, giving Class II status to health inspectors by implementing selection grade and employment rule 1985 (amended on 2011-12), posting of health inspectors to the post of health supervisors, increasing tour-allowance.
The programme was organised by the district unit of the association in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city.
Among others, Firoz Alam, central president, Hanif Mia, Shah Maniruzzaman, joint secretary general, Nazma Aktar, central secretary for family affairs, Salamatullah, central organising secretary in-charge of Barisal division of the association, addressed the programme.
The speakers giving an ultimatum to fulfill their demands within October 5 cautioned that they would boycott extended program on immunization if their demands would be ignored.
