Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu MP on Tuesday said, Hefazat-e-Islam or Jamaat- e- Islam could not obstruct the women as they are on the way to development. He encouraged the female journalists in the society and said that there should not be any discrimination between male and female journalists. He made the remarks at a training inauguration programme on “Foundation Course for Women Journalists” organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh on its premises in the city. Mass media is the mirror of democracy, so it is the responsibility of the journalists to clear the mirror of the Government and Journalists, the minister said as chief guest.
“It’s a challenge to reveal the truth, it is not fair to deliver false or partial information for the interest of the people and democracy,” said the minister.
“Information is not a product, it is a social issue, journalists must work with responsibility for the interest of democracy,” said the minister.
Journalists are accountable to the people, society and the next generation and the development of present activities should be presented by them, he said. “We must learn to recognize our nationality and then we have to honour our religion,” said he.
He said that he is shocked to see the trend of “desperate” and negative reporting whereas good works done by the people and the government in the country is not being focused.
