The heritage volunteers participating in UNESCO World Heritage Volunteers Programme 2023 visited Paharpur archaeological museum in Naogaon on Friday.
The ten-day workshop programme organised by Nagar Upakhyan-Perceive started on October 1, said a press release.
The Heritage volunteers’ team visited Paharpur archaeological museum which is on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list on the sixth day of the programme.
Architect Fatiha Polin, founding director of Perceive Research and Design, guided the participants in the museum auditorium to understand the significance of world heritage sites and the objective of this workshop.
The custodian of the museum Fazlul Karim discussed the pros and cons of the museum and the management issues of Paharpur site from his practical experience.
This year’s theme is ‘interpretation of the terracotta plaques of the Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur, Bangladesh’.
The World Heritage Volunteers Programme workshop will be conducted till October 10 by visiting Cumilla and Paharpur, attending a terracotta workshop at the Charukala at Dhaka University and visiting Bangladesh National Museum. – Press release
