The national hockey players threatened to boycott the Asia Cup preparation camp which was scheduled to start from today due to the uncertainty regarding next season’s players’ transfer date which
was supposed to take place one week after the conclusion of the forthcoming election.
The election date of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation is yet to be finalised so the players are filled with doubts surrounding the players’ transfer.
National team captain Zahid Hossain said that they might be boycotting the national camp because the federation failed to announce the date of the players’ transfer.
‘We will discuss with each other about the players’ transfer then we will take the decision but there is a chance we might boycott the national camp,’ said Zahid.
Khawaja Rahamatullah, general secretary of the BHF informed after the meeting that they will set up the players’ transfer a week after the election.
‘The election process might be concluded by
the month of June. After that we will organise
the players’ transfer and if the election is deferred
then the date of the transfer will be brought forward before the election,’ said Khawaja.
