Holy Cross College yesterday celebrated its 60th anniversary with different colourful programmes on the college premises in city’s Tejgaon.
Hundreds of former and current students of the college took part in the programmes including discussion meeting and cultural events, participated by the former students.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said, “As a student of this college, I feel proud and I want to contribute more in building the nation which I learnt from my teachers.”
She said the college is contributing a lot in women’s’ empowerment, development and education.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Dipu Moni took part in the discussion programme as the chief guest and called on the students to work for the country’s well being.
Chairperson of the college’s governing body Archbishop Paulinus Costa, former principal of the college Joseph Marie and current Principal Sister Shikha Gomez, among others, spoke at the discussion.
The college was established in 1950 by the Society of the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross of the Roman Catholic Church.
