Bangladesh will be eager to open their SAFF U-16 Championship account with a win when they take on Sri Lanka at the Sylhet District stadium today.
A comprehensive win will drive the hosts into the semi-finals from the Group A but the match will be a do-or-die affair for Sri Lanka after they lost to India 0-5 in their first match.
Though Bangladeshi boys are confident of making a positive start, coach Syed Jilani said there are some concerns about their defense.
‘We are hopeful that we will make a winning start against Sri Lanka,’ said Jilani. ‘Compared to all the departments, we have some weakness in backline, which is not well organised.’
‘Sri Lanka use to play long ball but we will give emphasis on build up from behind and keep the ball possession as long as we can,’ he said.
In the Group B match on Monday, Nepal trashed Maldives 5-0 at the same venue.
