Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne formally ended their marriage of 14 years on Saturday when a family court granted them divorce by mutual consent, reports India Today. Hrithik and Sussanne came separately for the early morning hearing and left by 11 am. Donning a white tee and blue jeans, Sussanne was dressed in casuals and so was Hrithik, who wore a black t-shirt, a hat and had his right arm in a sling. The two were accompanied by their lawyers. Inside the court, the estranged couple preferred to sit quietly while their lawyers carried out the paper work. Eye witnesses confirmed that the proceedings went off smoothly and there were no signs of acrimony or bitterness from either side. According to the lawyers, both the parties decided to share the custody of the children and will have a role in their upbringing.
The couple decided to call it quits after they filed for separation on April 30. The court had reportedly given them a cooling-off period of six months to think over their decision. In between, rumours of a huge alimony demanded by Sussanne made the rounds but this news was vehemently refuted by Hrithik. The buzz is that Hrithik tried his best to reconcile but Sussanne was adamant that they go their separate ways.
Hrithik and Sussanne, who have known each other for over 17 years, have two sons-seven-year old Hrehaan and five-year-old Hridhaan who live with their mother in Versova. Earlier this month, Hrithik was at Sussanne’s house to celebrate Hrehaan’s birthday. Despite their separation, Hrithik has maintained cordial relations with Sussanne’s family including her brother Zayed Khan and sister Farah Khan Ali.
