For Anika Kabir Shokh, it did not take long to win the hearts of the TV viewers. Though a newcomer in the scene, combining her good looks with talent the dancer-actor-model’s rise to fame and glamour has been speedy.
Today the young sensation is one of the busiest artistes in the country’s entertainment scene.
However, apart from a dancer, actor and model, Shokh also loves fashion designing and she wants to pursue her hobby as profession in future. The following is a tête-à-tête with Shokh as she shares her story, recent works, thoughts regarding future and more.
“My parents always encourage me. My father Shamim Kabir has always been there to inspire me. So, they are my parents who deserve all the credit for which I am here today,” said Shokh.
Born and brought up in a culturally- oriented family, Shokh’s introduction to television happened at a very early age.
“I have been learning dance since my young age. However, I acted in a TV play when I was a student of class four. The play was aired on BTV,” she recalled.
“A turning point of my career was the TVC of Uro Lemon. I acted in the TVC when I just got to class nine. I started receiving new offers after the TVC had gone on air. It literally catapulted me to fame and I never had to look back,” said the actress.
Speaking about her current projects, she said,“ Currently I am working on a TV play titled Ami Tumi, Tumi Ami. The play has been written by Rawnak Hassan. Apart from me, the play also features Bindu, Rawnak Hassan in central roles.”
“The story of the TV play revolves around three young people — a young boy and two girls. The boy starts to develop a liking for both of the girls but complexity occurs when he is to choose one of them,” said Shokh.
About her current projects regarding TVC, Shokh said, “I enjoy both acting and modelling. I have acted in some new short TVCs of Banglalink which will go on air soon. I have also acted in another TVC in which I would be a surprise for the audience.”
“I will be acting in two other TV plays of Chayanika Chowdhury,” she added.
“I will also act in film, if I get opportunity and the storyline is good. I will be working in the upcoming film of Impress Telefilm Pendrive. The shooting of the film will begin soon,” said Shokh.
Asked about her future plans, the actress said, “Be it acting, modelling or dancing, I will always prefer good projects. I want to give my audience some quality works. However, I have also a strong passion for fashion designing and in future I will pursue it as a career alongside acting.”
“I thank the audience for their sincere love and support. I hope they will support me the same way in future. I think their support will provide further impetus for me,” Shokh concluded.
