M. Saber is a homeless destitute, a vagrant, a beggar- we have many names for people like him. He sits on different spots of the city with a sign board hanging from his neck that says “I am orphaned and disabled, don’t have mother & father. I want a vehicle!”. He explains that he wants a wheelchair which he will be able to pedal with his arms. He says he became disabled from polio at a young age, and now lives off begging, especially after losing his parents. When asked where he can be reached, he says “On Saturdays come to beg in front of Green Super Market. At night I can be found around Modhumita Cinema Hall.”
It seems Saber does not want to burden us. But whose responsibility is he? PHOTO: ZAID ISLAM
